The camp of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, has expressed confidence that its principal will defeat President Bola Tinubu in 12 battleground states during the 2027 presidential election.

The group made the declaration in a statement issued on Saturday by its Director of Strategic Communications, Richard Ihediwa.

It maintained that Tinubu’s planned visits to the states would not change what it described as growing opposition to his re-election bid.

The states listed by the group include Rivers, Oyo, Kaduna, Plateau, Borno, Enugu, Bauchi, Sokoto, Delta, Kano, Adamawa and Lagos, alongside the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The APM camp attributed the alleged growing resentment towards the Tinubu administration to the economic hardship confronting Nigerians.

It also accused the President and members of his inner circle of worsening public dissatisfaction through what it described as political arrogance and unfavourable policies.

According to the group, the administration has spent trillions of naira on projects and programmes it considers wasteful, while ordinary Nigerians continue to struggle with the rising cost of living.

The statement further challenged Tinubu to proceed with his planned visits to the states, insisting that such engagements would not change the people’s alleged determination to vote against him in 2027.

“Mr President should know that his visit to these states, if he eventually does, will not in any way change the direction or the determination of the people to vote him out.

“We challenge President Tinubu not to have a change of mind but visit the states to face the people,” the statement said.

However, the group’s prediction represents its political position ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with the eventual outcome to be determined by voters.
