KANO GOVERNOR YUSUF PREDICTS 100% NORTHERN SUPPORT FOR TINUBU IN 2027

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has declared that the North will give President Bola Tinubu 100 per cent support in the 2027 general elections.
Yusuf made the declaration on Saturday during the unveiling of the national headquarters of Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A) in Abuja.
The governor based his position on what he described as a mutual agreement between Northern and Southern political leaders in 1999, which, according to him, provides for two consecutive presidential terms for each region.
He noted that the arrangement was observed during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who served two terms in office between 2015 and 2023.
Yusuf argued that the understanding should be respected, despite not being a constitutional provision, insisting that political leaders should honour the agreement.
“Arewa will support the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 100 per cent. Our leaders and political elders are here,” he said.
Recalling the alleged agreement, the governor stated, “In 1999, there was a mutual agreement between the North and the South that the North would be allowed to serve two consecutive terms in office.
“Based on that, in the last dispensation, President Buhari, of blessed memory, held sway for two consecutive terms, meaning eight years.”
He added that there was no reason to abandon the arrangement, describing it as a matter of common sense and mutual understanding between the two regions.
Yusuf further assured Tinubu of the support of Northern states and what he described as patriotic democrats, expressing confidence in the President’s performance.
“I therefore, on behalf of all the Northern states, all democrats and patriotic Northern states, want to assure Tinubu of our full support. One hundred per cent. He has done exceedingly well,” the governor said.
