ARMY DISOWNS FAKE SSC 50/2027 RECRUITMENT ADVERTISEMENT, WARNS NIGERIANS

The Nigerian Army has disowned a fake recruitment advertisement circulating on social media and other online platforms, inviting applications for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 50/2027, warning members of the public to disregard it.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, described the advertisement as false, fraudulent and not originating from the Nigerian Army.

The Army cautioned prospective applicants against applying through, patronising or making payments to any individual, group or website claiming to conduct recruitment on its behalf.

It reiterated that all recruitment and commissioning exercises are conducted strictly on the basis of merit and at no cost to applicants.

“The Nigerian Army wishes to emphasise that all recruitment and commissioning exercises are strictly free, transparent and merit-based. Official recruitment announcements are made only through national newspapers, the Nigerian Army’s verified social media platforms and other recognised official communication channels. No form is sold and no person or agent is authorised to facilitate recruitment or demand payment at any stage of the process,” the statement read.

The Army also warned those behind the fake advertisement to stop immediately, disclosing that security agencies had been mobilised to track down and prosecute those responsible.

“Those behind this criminal act are advised to desist immediately. Security agencies have been activated to identify, arrest and prosecute all individuals involved in producing, circulating or using the fake advertisement to defraud innocent Nigerians. Anyone found culpable will face the full weight of the law,” it stated.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the integrity of its recruitment process and urged members of the public to verify recruitment information only through its official communication channels.

It also advised Nigerians to report any suspicious recruitment activities to the nearest military formation or security agency.
