The African Democratic Congress is set to inaugurate its presidential campaign in Sokoto State, with the event slated to take place at the party‘s state secretariat located along Ilorin Road. This gathering marks a strategic phase of intensified mobilisation as the organisation prepares for the upcoming 2027 general elections.

The party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, is expected to lead the campaign activities at the secretariat, located at No.
1 Ilorin Road, Sokoto, on Wednesday.

The ADC State Presidential Campaign Coordinator, Senator Ibrahim Lamido, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, announcing that Atiku would arrive at the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto, at 9 am.

Lamido orchestrated a reception for the former Vice President upon his arrival at the airport, convening a gathering of party loyalists and members of the public before the group proceeded to the campaign headquarters.

He also urged party executives across the 23 local government areas and wards, mobilisation coordinators, support groups, women and youth organisations to mobilise their members for the event.

“All local government area and ward executives, mobilisation coordinators, support groups, women and youth organisations are urged to activate their respective structures and ensure maximum participation,” he said.

The campaign flag-off comes amid heightened political activities in Sokoto, following recent tensions between the ADC and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over allegations of intimidation and restrictions on opposition activities.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally leveled allegations against the Sokoto State Government for the closure of its campaign headquarters located on Ahmadu Bello Way, a move that has compelled the party to urgently call for the facility‘s immediate reactivation.

The party has further voiced apprehensions regarding the security of its members and supporters, precipitated by allegations of assaults and political intimidation within the state.
These assertions have elicited responses from various political stakeholders.

The scheduled initiative is poised to enable the ADC to fortify its electoral coalition and articulate its political platform to voters in Sokoto, thereby positioning itself strategically ahead of the 2027 elections.
