Suspected bandits have abducted a Kebbi State High Court judge, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, from his residence along Zogirma Road in Bunza Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred on Sunday shortly after the judge returned from a trip to Sokoto State.
According to sources, the gunmen stormed Justice Bunza’s residence shortly after his arrival and forcefully whisked him away to an unknown destination.
“He had just returned from Sokoto when the gunmen invaded his residence and abducted him,” a source was quoted as saying.
The source added that although no member of the judge’s household was injured during the attack, the assailants fired several gunshots indiscriminately before fleeing with their victim.
The spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed the abduction, saying the command had commenced efforts to rescue the judge and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
Further details are expected as investigations continue.
