The Executive Secretary of the Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA), Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan Duguri, and four of his children have died in a fatal road accident in Yalwan Duguri, Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The accident reportedly occurred on Saturday evening, according to a statement issued by the Bauchi State Government on Sunday.
The deceased children were identified as Hajara, Usman, Rukayya and Maryam. Another son, Suleiman, reportedly survived the crash.
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, expressed sadness over the incident, describing the deaths of Duguri and his four children as a monumental loss to the state.
The governor described Duguri as a dedicated public servant who contributed significantly to improving access to healthcare services, particularly for disadvantaged residents.
He noted that Duguri played a vital role in strengthening the state’s health contributory management system through his leadership of BASHCMA.
Mohammed also recalled the deceased’s contributions to medical teams during pilgrimage exercises in Saudi Arabia, where he helped provide healthcare services to pilgrims.
The governor said the tragedy was particularly painful because Duguri was not only a valued public servant but also his close friend and classmate.
He prayed for the recovery of Suleiman and asked Allah to grant Duguri and his four deceased children eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.
Mohammed also called on residents to support the bereaved family with prayers and compassion during the difficult period.
The media reports that the funeral prayer for the deceased was scheduled for 11 a.m. on Sunday, October 18, at the palace of the District Head of Yalwan Duguri.
