BREAKING: FG ANNOUNCES PUBLIC HOLIDAY FOR DEMOCRACY DAY CELEBRATION

The Federal Government has declared Friday, June 12, as a public holiday to mark this year’s Democracy Day celebration.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the government said June 12 remains a landmark date in Nigeria’s history, set aside to honour the courage, resilience, and sacrifices of those who contributed to the country’s return to democratic rule.
It added that the legacy of these heroes continues to guide the values and responsibilities of the Nigerian state.
The Minister also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to upholding democratic principles, including the rule of law, transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance.
