A high court in Ekiti sentenced two men to death by hanging for kidnapping Omoboade Adesina, who was an official with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).The men, Ibrahim Abubakar and Abdullahi Abubakar, were found guilty of taking Adesina. The kidnapping happened on April 22, 2022.A third person, Usman Abubakar, was let go because the court could not prove that he was involved in the crime.

The three men were arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and subsequently arraigned.

Delivering judgement, Lekan Ogunmoye, chief judge of Ekiti state, convicted Ibrahim and Abdullahi and sentenced them to death by hanging.

Ogunmoye held that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

The judge said the identification parade conducted during the investigation and the analysis of call data records were key pieces of evidence that linked the convicts to the offence.

He, however, discharged and acquitted Usman after finding insufficient evidence to connect him with the kidnapping.
