Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has drawn global attention to the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State during his performance at the FIFA World Cup Countdown Concert in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.

The ‘OBO’ crooner wore a customised jacket featuring the names of 39 abducted pupils and seven teachers. On the back of the outfit, he boldly inscribed the message, “Bring Them Home,” as he used the platform to highlight their plight.

During his performance of the hit song “Fall,” Davido repeatedly showcased the jacket in a bid to spotlight the ongoing captivity of the victims.

The singer has consistently called for the release of the abductees, previously urging authorities via social media to ensure their swift rescue and stressing that rising insecurity must be urgently addressed.

Meanwhile, Grammy-winning artiste Burna Boy is set to perform at the FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremony in Mexico City alongside Shakira. He is featured on the official 2026 World Cup song titled “Dia Dia,” which he is expected to perform live at the event.

Another Nigerian star, Rema, is also billed to perform at the US opening ceremony in Los Angeles alongside Lisa and other international artistes.
