The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Victor Bernard Onuimo before the Lagos State Special Offences Court, Ikeja, over an alleged N25 million fraud.

Onuimo was arraigned before Justice Ismail Ijelu on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and stealing.

The prosecution alleged that in May 2025, in Lagos, the defendant, allegedly operating under the name Fluor Integrated Ventures, induced Akomotu Nwachukwu to part with N25 million under the pretext that the money would be used to clear containers.

The EFCC further alleged that the defendant dishonestly obtained the money belonging to Nwachukwu.

The charges were brought under the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006, and the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Onuimo, however, pleaded not guilty to the two counts.

Following his plea, defence counsel applied for bail, which Justice Ijelu granted.

The court admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N10 million, subject to conditions including the provision of two sureties whose suitability must be verified by the court.

Justice Ijelu also ordered the verification of the defendant’s residential address and directed that he must not travel outside Nigeria without the court’s permission.

The judge subsequently adjourned the case until November 2 for trial.
