EFCC DEBUNKS VIRAL SECRET RECRUITMENT CLAIM, WARNS NIGERIANS AGAINST FAKE NEWS

By; Aina Daniel
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed claims circulating on social media that it is secretly recruiting new personnel, describing the report as false and misleading.
In a post shared on its official X account on Monday, the anti-corruption agency cautioned Nigerians against believing or spreading the viral claim.
The commission accompanied its warning with a graphic prominently labelled “FAKE NEWS” and “THIS IS FALSE NEWS. BEWARE!”, making it clear that the recruitment report is fabricated.
The false message alleged that the EFCC was quietly recruiting personnel and preparing successful applicants for training next month, while also encouraging users to send anonymous messages for more information.
By categorically branding the claim as fake, the commission urged members of the public to disregard it.
The EFCC noted that the clarification became necessary amid the growing trend of fraudsters circulating fake recruitment announcements in the agency’s name to deceive job seekers and extort money from unsuspecting Nigerians.
The commission reiterated that all its recruitment exercises are officially announced through its verified communication channels and are never conducted secretly or through third parties.
It advised the public to verify information relating to its activities through its official platforms before taking any action.
