The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed 2,350 operatives across the state to ensure a safe and peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The announcement was made in a statement issued Tuesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASC I Ayoola Shola, and shared with The Media in Ilorin, outlining the corps’ operational plans for the festive period.

According to the statement, the State Commandant, Bala Bodinga, approved the deployment as part of proactive measures to protect critical national assets, prevent crime, and safeguard residents before, during, and after the celebrations.

“The Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC, Commandant Bala Bawa Bodinga, has approved the deployment of 2,350 operatives to provide robust protection of critical national assets and ensure the safety of residents throughout the Eid celebration,” the statement read.

“The deployment spans all sixteen (16) local government areas of the state, with personnel drawn from specialized units including the Armed Squad, Operational Harmony, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Anti-Vandal Unit, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) Unit,” the statement said.

It added that the operation is intelligence-driven, based on detailed threat assessments to identify flashpoints, high-risk corridors, and other vulnerable areas across the state.

“The operation relies on credible intelligence and thorough threat mapping, with priority given to flashpoints, high-risk corridors, and other sensitive locations to ensure maximum effectiveness and public safety,” the NSCDC emphasized.

“Area Commanders and Divisional Officers have been instructed to maintain aggressive patrols, enhance surveillance, and implement proactive response measures within their Areas of Responsibility,” the NSCDC said.

The corps also reaffirmed its commitment to inter-agency cooperation, highlighting plans to work closely with other security agencies, local vigilantes, and community stakeholders to strengthen security coordination.

“The NSCDC will coordinate with other security outfits, local vigilantes, and community members to ensure comprehensive coverage, rapid response, and uninterrupted public safety throughout the festive period,” the statement added.

While congratulating Muslim faithful on the successful completion of Ramadan, the command urged residents to remain vigilant and support security efforts by promptly reporting suspicious movements and activities.

“Residents are encouraged to stay alert and assist security agencies by reporting any suspicious activities, even as we extend felicitations to Muslim faithful on the completion of Ramadan,” it noted.

The NSCDC also warned that any attempts to disrupt public peace would not be tolerated, stressing that offenders would face decisive action in accordance with the law.

“The command will take firm action against anyone attempting to undermine public peace and order during the Eid celebrations,” the statement concluded.
