FAULTY NOSE WHEEL FORCES PLANE TO HALT ON ENUGU RUNWAY, ALL PASSENGERS EVACUATED SAFELY – FAAN

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed that an aircraft operating a Lagos–Enugu flight experienced a nose-wheel malfunction while landing at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, on Thursday evening.
According to a statement issued by FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, the incident occurred at approximately 19:10 hrs when the aircraft, with registration number 5N-BZN, became immobile on Runway 08 after the fault was detected.
FAAN disclosed that emergency response teams were promptly mobilised to secure the aircraft and ensure the safety of all onboard. Airport emergency services, including fire tenders and medical standby units, were deployed without delay in line with standard procedures.
All passengers and crew were safely disembarked and evacuated to the terminal using apron buses. The evacuation concluded at 19:48 hrs without any injuries reported.
The agency noted that its Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Services (ARFFS) remained in position while the aircraft and airside were secured.
FAAN reaffirmed that its top priority is the safety of passengers, crew, and airport users, assuring that further updates will be provided as more credible information becomes available.
