Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has cautioned youths against allowing politicians to use them as instruments of violence ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that the polls should not be treated as a war.

Fintiri gave the warning on Saturday in a goodwill message at the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Adamawa State Government House Chapel in Yola.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Faruta, urged Christian youths to demonstrate godly values before, during and after the elections.

He emphasised that the forthcoming elections should be conducted peacefully, urging young people to participate in the democratic process by voting rather than engaging in political violence.

“The coming election is not a war or battle. We should all come out and vote without violence. Youths should come out but not as thugs. You must not allow yourselves to be thugs in the hands of politicians,” he said.

Fintiri also urged members of the Government House Chapel and the Christian community to keep their faith alive, calling on them not to allow the fire on the altar to go out, so that God’s blessings would continue to be upon Adamawa State and Nigeria.

Meanwhile, former Chief of Defence Staff, retired Lieutenant General Theophilus Danjuma, urged Adamawa residents to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 rather than vote for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Danjuma, who was represented at the event by retired Major General Ishaya Bamaiyi, said Tinubu deserved another term because of what he described as his recognition and promotion of the Middle Belt people since assuming office.
