The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has confirmed that a fire incident occurred on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at one of its offices in Abuja.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page and signed by management, the Service said the incident occurred at its office located at No. 15 Sokode Crescent, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.
According to the statement, “a fire incident occurred on the morning of Saturday, 20th December 2025,” adding that the fire “broke out on the fourth floor of the building.”
FIRS explained that the situation was quickly brought under control, noting that “the fire was promptly responded to by our security personnel on duty,” with the support of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service and other emergency responders.
The Service disclosed that the swift intervention ensured the fire was “successfully contained and prevented from spreading further.”
FIRS also confirmed that “no lives were lost in the incident,” although “a number of offices on the affected floor sustained damage.”
The agency added that investigations into the cause of the fire have begun, with “preliminary assessments pointing to a possible electrical fault.” It said internal safety protocols are being reviewed and strengthened to prevent a recurrence.
