GOV SANWO-OLU COMMENDS TUNDE BAKARE’S LEGACY OF FAITH, ACTIVISM @ 70

Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, has received congratulations on his 70th birthday from Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Bakare is a “faithful servant of God, transformative leader, and tireless advocate for good governance,” according to a statement released Monday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, on behalf of Sanwo-Olu.
Sanwo-Olu praised Bakare’s lasting influence, emphasising his path as a devout preacher and outspoken change agent whose contributions have permanently altered Nigeria’s political and religious landscape.
Known for his courage in speaking truth to power, Bakare has not only guided his congregation but has also become a respected figure in Nigerian civil society, advocating for accountability and reform among the country’s leaders, the statement noted.
“Pastor Bakare is an emblem of integrity, unwavering dedication, and selfless service,” Sanwo-Olu said, praising the cleric’s lifetime work as both an activist and a public figure.
He lauded Bakare’s influence in promoting democracy, transparency, and justice in Nigeria, qualities that have made him a powerful voice for both the church and the nation.
In his message, Sanwo-Olu stated, “On behalf of the government and the people of Lagos State, I join family, friends, associates, and the entire Citadel Global Community to celebrate Pastor Bakare’s remarkable 70 years.
“His commitment to humanity and the gospel has not only inspired his congregation but has also positively impacted millions across Nigeria.”
Sanwo-Olu commended Bakare’s work in shaping public discourse and his courage in challenging unjust policies and practices, noting that he remains a symbol of moral fortitude and resilience.
“Pastor Bakare’s journey has enriched our society and strengthened the pillars of faith and accountability,” he added.
As Bakare marks this milestone, Governor Sanwo-Olu offered prayers for continued strength, good health, and divine grace upon him.
