Unidentified gunmen on Saturday attacked the Uratta Eziukwu Police Station in Aba, Abia State, killing two police officers and injuring three others.
The attackers reportedly arrived at the facility with improvised explosive devices, set a police van ablaze and destroyed another vehicle, a power-generating set and other property within the premises.

They also vandalised the station’s windows and doors before fleeing the scene.
Speaking to journalists at the police station on Saturday, the Abia State Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, condemned the attack and disclosed that the command had launched efforts to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
Afolabi also expressed appreciation to Governor Alex Otti for visiting the station, describing the governor’s presence as a significant morale booster for the police command.

“The most important thing is to get the culprits, and that is what we are doing. Wherever they are, we are going to get them. Even if they enter the bush, we are going to get them,” the police commissioner vowed.
Meanwhile, the injured victims, who reportedly sustained gunshot and machete wounds during the attack, were taken to the Abia State University Teaching Hospital in Aba for medical treatment.
Governor Otti also visited the injured victims at the hospital.
