Usama Abdullahi, a 24-year-old convict, says he stole packs of noodles for his three girlfriends, but none of them visited him while he was in prison.

According to reports, Abdullahi spoke before the Adamawa State Jail Delivery Committee, a special mobile court set up to review certain cases with a view to decongesting correctional centers.

The convict, who worked as a car wash employee in Shelleng LGA of the state, said he ran away to another town after committing the offence before his eventual arrest.

He was later sentenced to two years’ imprisonment for the theft at Shelleng Satellite Custodial Facility.

“I stole Indomie and distributed it to my three girlfriends,” he said.

“Since I arrived at the facility, none of them paid me a visit. I promise to end the relationship with them once I gain my freedom.”

In response to his plea, Hafsat Abdulrahman, chairperson of the committee, reviewed Abdullahi’s jail term and converted it to community service.
