Veteran Nollywood actress Bukky Wright has shared new insights into her personal life, revealing her heartfelt desire to get married again.

The 58-year-old screen icon made the disclosure in an interview with the media, where she spoke candidly about her journey, including the challenges she faced while living abroad, her return to acting, and her hopes for companionship.

Having experienced both marriage and divorce in the past, Bukky Wright said she remains hopeful for love and is praying for another opportunity to find a life partner.

“Yes, I want to get married again. I even prayed for it when I went to Mecca,” she said. “But if it doesn’t happen, it’s not the end of the world.”

Despite past experiences, the actress emphasized her continued faith in the possibility of love, noting that she still looks forward to meaningful companionship.

The actress, renowned for her performances in both Yoruba and English Nollywood films, relocated to the United States in 2008, where she dedicated herself to raising her two sons.

However, her time abroad came with significant challenges. She reflected on the emotional toll of divorce, the loneliness and depression she endured, and the difficulties of adjusting to life in a foreign country.

Instead of accepting jobs she viewed as demeaning, Bukky Wright said she made a conscious decision to reinvent herself by returning to school and pursuing a new professional path.

“I told myself I wouldn’t do work that felt degrading,” she shared. “So I went back to school and studied IT, auditing, and cybersecurity.”

According to Bukky Wright, her bold decision to pivot careers eventually paid off, as she successfully built a second profession in the tech industry, specializing in auditing and cybersecurity.

Yet, despite her achievements in the tech space, she revealed that her passion for acting never waned.

Now that her children are grown and independent, Wright says she is ready to fully embrace acting once again — a craft she refers to as her “first love.”

“My children are now old enough to take care of themselves, so I can return to acting,” she shared. “Expect me in The Return of Omotara Johnson and other new projects.”

Her upcoming film, The Return of Omotara Johnson, is a sequel to one of her most iconic roles and is expected to mark her full return to the Nigerian movie industry.

Reflecting on Nollywood’s transformation over the years, Wright expressed admiration for the industry’s growth and praised the new wave of filmmakers for elevating storytelling and production standards.

“The industry has grown. It’s on another level now. I’m proud of the young filmmakers and what they’re doing,” she said.
