JAMB ANNOUNCES ONE-TIME PHONE NUMBER, EMAIL UPDATE FOR CANDIDATES WHO LOST ACCESS

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has introduced a secure procedure allowing candidates who have lost access to their registered phone numbers or email accounts to update their contact details.

The board announced the policy review in a post on its X handle on Monday, September 21, 2026, stating that eligible candidates can now change their registered GSM numbers and/or email addresses through a controlled process involving identity and biometric verification.

According to JAMB, the service commenced on Monday and is available exclusively at designated JAMB CBT (PTC/PRC) centres, including state offices where applicable.

Explaining the policy change, JAMB said the option was specifically designed for candidates who had lost access to their registered SIM cards or email accounts.

“Lost access to your registered SIM or email? JAMB has reviewed its policy to allow candidates with genuine cases to update their GSM number and/or email address through a secure and controlled process,” the board stated in its announcement.

The board added that the service could only be accessed once and would be subject to strict identity and biometric verification.

AFFIDAVIT REQUIRED

JAMB said candidates seeking to use the service must have their new GSM number and/or email address ready, alongside a duly executed court affidavit, which must be scanned and prepared for upload.

It stressed that all requests must be processed at designated JAMB CBT (PTC/PRC) centres, including state offices where applicable.

The board also advised candidates to protect their personal information and avoid unauthorised channels.

“Do not patronise unauthorised persons or channels,” JAMB said.
