In Kebbi State’s Mera hamlet, Augie Local Government Area, Fulani residents were attacked by irate youths, who are said to have killed about six persons and injured numerous more.

According to SaharaReporters, the young people allegedly carried out the attack on Sunday in retaliation for a claim that some Fulani people were involved in recent bandit raids in the region.

A survivor of Friday’s bandit attack told the local teenagers that he recognized certain Fulani faces among the attackers, known locally as “Lakurawa,” reportedly set off the mayhem.

The discovery infuriated the young people, who retaliated by killing six Fulani people and wounding many more.

According to the report, Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer Nafiu Abubakar acknowledged that the event was a retaliatory attack by the irate youths.
