KEBBI: NSCDC ARRESTS 38-YEAR-OLD MAN OVER ALLEGED DEFILEMENT OF 8-YEAR-OLD GIRL

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 38-year-old man over the alleged defilement of an eight-year-old girl in Fana village, Dandi Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The Secretary of the Kebbi Technical Working Group on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Nasir Idris, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Birnin Kebbi.
According to Idris, the girl’s parents reported the alleged incident to the NSCDC in Kamba, following which the survivor was taken to the Mai Talle Tara Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) in Kalgo for medical examination and documentation.
He said the suspect was subsequently transferred to the Kebbi State NSCDC Command for detention and further legal action.
Idris explained that the suspect complained of ill health upon arrival, leading officers to defer his detention pending a medical examination.
He added that members of the Technical Working Group on GBV opposed a proposal that the survivor’s parents should be responsible for the suspect’s medical expenses.
Idris said the medical examination later found no serious health condition, adding that NSCDC officers assured the GBV working group that the suspect would be arraigned before the appropriate court for further proceedings.
