KOGI POLICE COMMISSIONER, SECURITY ADVISER LEAD CONFIDENCE-BUILDING PATROL ON KIDNAPPING-PRONE ROADS

The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, on Wednesday conducted a confidence-building patrol along the Obajana–Kabba–Ayere axis, a route notorious for kidnapping incidents.
The patrol, which was carried out in company of the Kogi State Security Adviser, Commodore Jerry Omodara (Rtd), was aimed at reassuring residents, commuters and security operatives of their safety, according to the state command’s spokesperson, CSP William Aya.
Aya said the patrol demonstrates the commissioner’s proactive approach to tackling insecurity in the state.
“By strategizing and responding promptly to emergency threats, the Commissioner of Police is sending a strong message of safety and security to the people of Kogi State. CP Kankarofi is truly making a difference,” he noted.
He added that the patrol will help boost morale among security personnel and reinforce community confidence.
Commodore Omodara commended the initiative, describing it as a motivating mechanism for officers and a strategic enhancement of security efforts.
The Kabba–Obajana road has been a major hotspot for abductions, prompting intensified joint security operations by the state government and security agencies.
The joint task force, comprising the Army, police, local hunters and state vigilantes, has recorded recent breakthroughs. Two weeks ago, troops of the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Oguma rescued two kidnapped victims and recovered ransom money intended for their release.
Similarly, in October, combined security forces raided a suspected bandits’ camp on the outskirts of Aherin-Bunu community in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, setting the camp ablaze during the operation led by the State Security Adviser.
The Wednesday patrol is expected to strengthen security surveillance and foster collaboration among security agencies to further curb criminal activities along the route.
