LAGOS ANNOUNCES TRAFFIC ADVISORY FOR REPAIR OF DAMAGED PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE AT TINCAN APAPA

The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion plan to allow repair works on the damaged pedestrian bridge at Tincan First Gate, Apapa (inward Mile 2).

The repair work will take place on Saturday, 20th December, 2025, from 9:00am to 1:00pm.
The work will be carried out in two phases:

Phase 1: Lifting and placing of bridge beams

a. The road from Tincan, Apapa to Mile 2 will be completely closed for about 20 minutes during the beam lifting.

b. Traffic will resume immediately after the operation is completed.

Phase 2: Lifting and installation of bridge slabs

a. Traffic from Tincan, Apapa to Mile 2 will continue to move, but vehicles will be diverted to one lane about 50 metres before the bridge work area.

b. Full access will be restored 50 metres after the work area.

c. Traffic from Mile 2 to Tincan, Apapa will move freely throughout this phase.

Motorists are advised to be patient and cooperate with traffic officials, as the temporary full and partial closures are necessary for the safe repair of the pedestrian bridge by the Federal Ministry of Works (Office of the Federal Controller, Lagos).
