LAGOS CP PRESENTS N89.2M CHEQUES TO FAMILIES OF 157 DECEASED POLICE OFFICERS

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, has presented cheques totalling N89,201,523.07 to families and next-of-kin of 157 deceased police officers who served under the command.
The cheques, presented on Friday at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja, represent claims under the welfare and insurance schemes of the Nigeria Police Force.
The initiative is aimed at providing financial support to families of officers who died in the course of service.
Fatai said although the financial assistance could not replace the lives of the deceased officers, it demonstrated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to honouring their sacrifices and supporting their families.
He sympathised with the beneficiaries and urged them to make judicious use of the funds, particularly for the welfare and education of the children and other dependants left behind.
The commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to facilitating the prompt processing of legitimate claims due to families of deceased personnel.
He also assured serving officers that their welfare and that of their families remained a priority of the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
Fatai said the financial support would provide some relief to the affected families and reinforce the assurance that the sacrifices of fallen officers had not been forgotten.
The Lagos State Police Command appreciated the Inspector-General of Police for the intervention and expressed sympathy and continued solidarity with the beneficiaries.
