The Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MBSE), through the Lagos State Examinations Board, has notified all candidates, parents, guardians, school authorities, and the general public that the Year 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), which commenced successfully on Monday, 29 June 2026, has recorded a slight adjustment to its examination timetable.

Following the declaration of the Oro Festival in parts of the Ikorodu Division on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, and after due consultation with relevant stakeholders, the State government has approved the postponement of all BECE papers earlier scheduled for the day.

The affected examination papers will now be written on Tuesday, 7th July 2026, while all other examination papers will be conducted on their previously scheduled dates.

This decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to safeguard the lives of candidates, examination personnel, and other stakeholders, as well as to ensure the smooth and orderly conduct of the examination without disruption.

The Board regrets any inconvenience this change may occasion and solicits the understanding and cooperation of parents, guardians, school administrators, candidates, and the general public.

Candidates are advised to obtain the revised examination schedule through their respective schools and make adequate preparations for the rescheduled papers.

The Lagos State Examinations Board remains steadfast in its commitment to conducting credible, transparent, and hitch-free examinations in line with the educational aspirations of Lagos State.
