The Lagos State Government has sealed the All Christians Gathering Ministry in Surulere over alleged noise pollution following a complaint by a resident of the area.

The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in a statement shared on his X account on Sunday, stating that the closure followed an investigation by government officials.

According to Wahab, the ministry initiated an investigation after receiving a complaint from a resident over excessive noise allegedly emanating from the church premises.

He explained that the investigation established that the church was violating environmental regulations and creating a nuisance for residents of the neighbourhood.

Following the findings, government officials sealed the church, located at No. 1, Ishola Street, off Clegg, Surulere, on Sunday. The commissioner added that the facility would remain shut until further notice.

Wahab maintained that the state government would not tolerate activities that violate environmental laws or disrupt the peace and well-being of residents.

He stressed that religious institutions, businesses and other establishments must comply with environmental regulations, warning that enforcement would continue without compromise.

“We will not tolerate environmental violations or any form of nuisance that disrupts the peace and well-being of residents. All religious institutions, businesses and other establishments are required to comply strictly with environmental regulations.

“Our enforcement actions will remain firm and decisive. No individual or institution is above the law,” he said.
