The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ebonyi State Command, has dismantled criminal hideouts along the Ebonyi-Benue border in Izzi Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Emmanuella Obianuju Ibeneme, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, noting that the operation followed credible intelligence on criminal activities in the area.
According to her, operatives of the Intelligence and Investigation Department, working alongside the Commandant’s Special Squad, carried out coordinated raids at different locations within the community.
The operation led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, a double magazine, four rounds of live ammunition, five knives, assorted criminal charms, one locally made pistol and a pump-action gun.
The State Commandant, CC Francis Chika Nnadi, JP, issued a stern warning to criminal elements plotting to disrupt the peace and security of Ebonyi State.
He assured residents that the Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, remained committed to eliminating criminal activities and ensuring a safe environment across the state.
Nnadi also assured residents of border communities and the entire state of adequate security before, during and after the forthcoming elections.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies by providing credible, timely and actionable information that could aid the identification and arrest of criminal suspects.
