The Lagos State Police Command has debunked media reports alleging that the Commissioner of Police defied a court order regarding security operations at the premises of Nestoil.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the police described the allegations as “untrue, unfounded and mischievous,” insisting that they amount to a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and malign the image of the Commissioner.

According to the statement, the court order relating to the Nestoil premises was received at approximately 5:50 p.m. on Thursday, 20th November 2025. It was promptly forwarded to the Police Legal Department for verification and confirmation from the issuing court.

The Command stated that the legal confirmation was received the following evening, on Friday, 21st November 2025, after which all police personnel were immediately withdrawn from the premises in full compliance with the court directive.

“The Lagos Police Commissioner has never disobeyed any court order and will not engage in any act that undermines judicial authority,” the statement affirmed.

It further clarified that at no time did the Police Commissioner personally visit the Nestoil premises on the said dates and that the role of the police was strictly limited to providing protection to court sheriffs and maintaining public order during enforcement activities.

The Command reiterated that the police have no power under the law to seal any premises, including those belonging to Nestoil, and cautioned parties involved in the dispute against dragging the police into what it termed unnecessary controversy.

The statement urged the public to disregard the report and any insinuations suggesting disobedience of court orders by the Commissioner of Police.

“The Lagos State Police Command remains fully committed to upholding the rule of law, obeying all judicial directives, and ensuring that police actions align strictly with legal procedures,” the statement concluded.
