Kylian Mbappe etched his name into FIFA World Cup history on Saturday after scoring twice in France’s third-place play-off against England to become the tournament’s all-time leading goalscorer.
The France captain found the net in the 48th and 66th minutes to take his tally at the 2026 FIFA World Cup to 10 goals.
The brace also lifted Mbappe’s overall World Cup tally to 22 goals in just 22 appearances, surpassing Lionel Messi’s previous record of 21 goals scored in 33 matches.
The milestone makes Mbappe the outright highest goalscorer in FIFA World Cup history, further cementing his place among the greatest players to grace the tournament.
