MURIC TO ADELEKE: VACATE OSUN GOVERNMENT HOUSE BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has urged Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to prepare to vacate the Government House, claiming that residents of the state have lost confidence in his administration ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
The group made the call in a statement issued on Monday by its Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola.
Akintola criticised the Adeleke administration, alleging that a recently commissioned flyover in Osogbo developed defects barely three weeks after its inauguration. He also accused the governor of concentrating governance around his hometown of Ede and faulted his handling of local government affairs in the state.
According to MURIC, these and other issues have eroded public trust in the administration.
“As preparations for the Osun governorship election on August 15, 2026, gather momentum, we advise Governor Ademola Adeleke to begin packing his belongings out of Oke-Fia Government House before it is too late,” the statement read.
The group further cited the allegedly damaged flyover, what it described as the “Edenisation” of governance, alleged mismanagement of local government affairs, and claims of examination malpractice as reasons for its criticism.
MURIC maintained that Governor Adeleke would face defeat in the forthcoming governorship election, arguing that the electorate, particularly Muslims in the state, would hold him accountable for what it described as his administration’s shortcomings.
