NIGERIA CUSTOMS DEBUNKS FAKE RECRUITMENT EXERCISE, WARNS APPLICANTS

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has dismissed a fake recruitment advertisement circulating on social media, warning fraudsters to stop exploiting unsuspecting job seekers through fraudulent schemes.
The Service urged the public to ignore any recruitment notices circulating online in its name, stressing that the advert is false and did not originate from the NCS.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the NCS advised Nigerians to rely solely on information published through its official communication channels for verified updates on its activities, including recruitment exercises.
The statement noted that recruitment scams have become increasingly common in Nigeria, with fraudsters taking advantage of the high demand for government jobs by spreading fake job advertisements and demanding money from applicants.
The Service added that security agencies and government institutions have repeatedly cautioned Nigerians against responding to unofficial recruitment announcements. It therefore urged members of the public to verify all recruitment information through its official platforms before acting on or sharing such notices.
The statement read in part: “Members of the public are advised to disregard the publication and rely only on information disseminated through the official communication channels of the Nigeria Customs Service.”
