NRC INTRODUCES ADDITIONAL SALLAH TRAIN SERVICES ON KEY ROUTES

The Nigerian Railway Corporation has announced extra train services on its major routes to accommodate the expected rise in passenger traffic during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

In a statement on Wednesday, Chief Public Relations Officer Callistus Unyimadu said the additional services aim to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient rail travel throughout the festive period.

“We recognise the importance of Sallah and the need for increased mobility. These additional services will help Nigerians travel with greater ease,” Unyimadu stated.

The statement noted that the Lagos-Ibadan corridor will see a one-day boost on Thursday, March 19, with three extra trips scheduled.

Trains from Ebute Metta are set to depart at 7:40 a.m., 1:40 p.m., and 4:00 p.m., while services from Moniya, Ibadan will leave at 8:00 a.m., 10:50 a.m., and 4:30 p.m.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation said the Abuja-Kaduna line will run two trips on Thursday, increasing to three daily trips from Friday through Monday.

The corporation also announced that residents of Osun State will enjoy free train services between Lagos and Osogbo, a service supported by the state government.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation said the Warri-Itakpe service will continue running three times a week, while the Port Harcourt-Aba line will operate on its regular schedule.

Passengers have been urged to arrive early and follow all ticketing and security procedures.

According to Hotjist Media, Eid-el-Fitr celebrations are set for Friday, March 20, 2026, marking the first day of Shawwal 1447AH.
