The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man, Gandonu Lowe, from Omolende Village via Idogo in Yewa South Local Government Area, for allegedly attempting to flee with his wife’s corpse tied to a motorcycle and hidden in a sack.
Lowe, suspected of killing his wife, was reportedly trying to escape the community but was intercepted following an intelligence tip-off to the Divisional Police Officer of Ilaro Division.
Police spokesperson CSP Omolola Odutola said in a statement on Thursday, “On Wednesday, 19th November 2025, at about 1305hrs, the Divisional Police Officer in Ilaro received credible information that a suspected felon, Gandonu Lowe of Omolende Village via Idogo, was transporting the corpse of an unknown woman on a motorcycle in an attempt to escape from the community.”
Acting promptly, police operatives intercepted the suspect and untied a sack attached to the back of his motorcycle, revealing the corpse of an adult female, later confirmed to be his wife.
“The body showed signs of violence, including bleeding around the neck, indicating possible foul play. A blood-stained cutlass was also recovered at the scene,” the statement added.
“The main suspect has been arrested, and the victim’s remains have been transported to the State Morgue in Ilaro for preservation and autopsy,” the statement said.
The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, praised the anonymous informant whose tip-off led to the arrest and urged residents to keep providing timely and credible information that could assist the police in preventing and solving crimes.
He emphasized that even the smallest tip, when reported promptly, could save lives.
According to the report, the couple had a dispute that escalated, and in a fit of anger, Akpos poured petrol on Risikat and ignited her. He then abandoned her and escaped the scene.
