Former Ekiti Central senator, Babafemi Ojudu, has urged Anthony Kila to address allegations surrounding his academic credentials, warning against allowing public disgrace to become a reason for despair.
Ojudu made the appeal amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Kila’s educational qualifications and his suspension as Pro-Chancellor of Michael and Cecilia Ibru University (MCIU).
Hotjist recalls that Kila was suspended from the position last week following allegations that he falsely claimed to be a professor in an investigative report published by Premium Times.
In an update published on Saturday, October 10, 2026, Premium Times further alleged that Kila falsified his bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.
Despite the allegations and calls from Nigerians for clarification, Kila has yet to issue an official response, according to reports.
Reacting to the controversy, Ojudu, who said he had known Kila for a long time, maintained that the allegations required a clear and documented response.
The former lawmaker also expressed concern over Kila’s silence, appealing to his family and close associates to check on him and offer support during the difficult period.
In a lengthy Facebook post, Ojudu stressed that nobody should be made to feel that death was the only escape from public disgrace.
He called on Kila’s family and friends to remain close to him, listen to his concerns and ensure that he knows he has people he can turn to for support.
Ojudu clarified that he had no information suggesting Kila intended to harm himself but said he was concerned about his welfare.
Addressing Kila directly, the former senator said there was still an opportunity for him to rebuild his life despite the potential consequences of the controversy.
He wrote, “Anthony, there is a way forward. It may be painful, and it will require humility, restitution and patience. You may lose titles, positions and the confidence of people who once admired you. But you still have the opportunity to build an honest life and put whatever knowledge and ability you possess to legitimate use.
“Tell the truth. Make amends. Accept accountability. Give yourself the chance to begin again. The first step towards that future is an honest account of the past,” Ojudu wrote.
The former senator’s intervention comes amid growing public scrutiny of Kila’s academic credentials and renewed calls for him to address the allegations against him.
