OMOTOLA JALADE EKEINDE CRITICISES BEGGING CULTURE, SAYS NO ONE IS ENTITLED TO ANOTHER PERSON’S WEALTH

Veteran Nigerian actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has criticised what she described as the growing culture of begging and entitlement in Nigerian society, urging citizens to embrace hard work and recognise the value they can contribute to humanity.
The actress made this known during a recent episode of Activating Success With Love Idoko, where she expressed her disapproval of begging, except in extreme circumstances involving life and death.
According to Omotola, many Nigerians take opportunities for granted and wrongly believe that others owe them financial assistance, stressing that everyone has personal needs and challenges to overcome.
She noted that individuals, regardless of their financial status, have responsibilities and should seek legitimate ways to earn a living rather than depend on others.
“A lot of Nigerians take opportunities for granted. And one thing we have to understand is that nobody owes you anything. Nigerians now have a culture of begging,” she said.
The actress maintained that everyone has something valuable to offer, adding that financial difficulties should not automatically become a reason to solicit assistance from others.
Omotola further explained that she also has personal needs but does not consider them a justification to feel entitled to other people’s resources.
She emphasised that people at different levels of society face challenges and are working to meet their needs, urging Nigerians not to assume that their financial struggles make them more deserving of help than others.
The actress also warned that excessive begging could undermine an individual’s self-worth, advising those facing difficulties to seek assistance only when absolutely necessary.
“Try as much as you can not to beg and be a nuisance. Begging reduces your own self-worth. If you must beg, let it be in a desperate situation. And don’t do it with entitlement,” she added.
