The Ondo State Police Command has arrested four suspects over the alleged assault of officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the malicious destruction of their official property in Akure.

The incident reportedly occurred on December 16, 2025, along the Akure–Ipetu Road at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) axis, while FRSC officers led by Fadimo Abiola were carrying out their lawful duties.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Kazeem, identified the suspects as Olamiju Olayinka, 28; Olamiju Adeseke, 28; Olamiju Timileyin, 27; and Toheeb Oluwaseun, 32.

According to the statement, preliminary investigations revealed that the FRSC officers were violently attacked and their properties deliberately damaged during the incident.

“The suspects have been charged to court following the conclusion of investigations,” the statement said.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Adebowale Lawal, strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a “grave affront to constituted authority.”

He warned that the command would not tolerate assaults, harassment or obstruction of law enforcement officers in the discharge of their duties, stressing that offenders would be made to face the full weight of the law.

The police commissioner also called on residents of the state to remain law-abiding and to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and ensure the protection of lives and property across the state.
