Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen scored his sixth goal of the season before leaving the pitch with an injury as Galatasaray edged Istanbul Basaksehir 3-2 on Friday.

Osimhen opened the scoring in the 16th minute, capping a well-built Galatasaray attack to give the Turkish champions an early advantage.

The Nigerian striker, however, was unable to continue after sustaining an injury and was replaced by Barış Alper Yılmaz in the 33rd minute.

Basaksehir fought back after the interval and drew level in the 66th minute when Eldor Shomurodov converted from the penalty spot.

Galatasaray quickly regained the lead five minutes later, with Lucas Torreira finishing off a coordinated team move to make it 2-1.

The visitors responded again as Galatasaray defender Davinson Sánchez inadvertently put the ball into his own net, restoring parity.

With the encounter seemingly heading for a draw, Gabriel Sara emerged as the match-winner in the 90th minute, curling a superb free-kick into the net to secure a dramatic 3-2 victory for Galatasaray.

The result maintains Galatasaray’s impressive start to the campaign, while Osimhen’s condition will be closely monitored following his early withdrawal.
