The Oyo State Police Command has intervened in the disagreement between the family and associates of late gospel singer Olayemi Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, over his burial arrangements, securing a peace agreement among the parties.

The command disclosed that the parties signed a peace undertaking on Tuesday at its headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, following an invitation by the Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Olugbenga.

The intervention came amid concerns over allegations of conspiracy, defamation of character and actions capable of causing a breach of the peace following public disagreements over the singer’s death and burial plans.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the command’s spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, said the Commissioner of Police was informed of the dispute on October 28, involving the singer’s family and associates over his proposed burial arrangements.

The statement explained that the police chief, concerned about the potential threat to public peace and order, directed all parties to report to the command headquarters for an intervention aimed at preventing further escalation and resolving the disagreement amicably.

Those who signed the undertaking included the singer’s wife, Olayemi Elizabeth Damilola; his father, Muniru Olayemi; and his friends and associates, Oyindamola Esther, Babadunni Gbolabo and Lawal Ademola Rafiu.

His personal assistant and other representatives were also present.

The disagreement reportedly centred on where the late singer should be buried.

While his father was said to have proposed that he be laid to rest at the house he built or beside his late mother in Osun State, his wife reportedly opposed the suggestion of burying him at their residence.

According to the police, the parties agreed to maintain peace and good conduct, avoid actions capable of disrupting public order and discontinue public exchanges, interviews and discussions that could aggravate the dispute.

The command said the agreement also required them to stop circulating information, allegations and publications relating to the matter through social media, print media, radio, blogs and other communication platforms.

It added that the parties were responsible for ensuring that their agents, associates, representatives and other persons acting on their behalf did not make, sponsor or circulate publications capable of reigniting the disagreement.

The Commissioner of Police warned all parties to comply strictly with the agreement, including those acting on their behalf.

He cautioned against exploiting the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death to provoke hostility, spread unsubstantiated allegations or engage in activities capable of disrupting public peace.

The command further warned that anyone found engaging in conduct that violated applicable laws would be arrested and prosecuted.

It also appealed to members of the public, bloggers and media practitioners to exercise restraint and avoid spreading unverified information that could reignite tensions.

Toluwanisings died in Ibadan on October 14, 2026, after reportedly slumping.

His death sparked controversy following allegations that several hospitals turned him away while attempts were being made to secure emergency medical attention.

His personal assistant, Babadunni Gbolabo, had alleged that the singer was taken to seven or eight hospitals before his death.

However, the University College Hospital, Ibadan, said it had no record confirming that the singer was brought to its facility.
