Representatives of political parties participating in the December 29, 2026 local government election in Oyo State have verified their respective party logos on ballot paper specimens ahead of the polls.
The party representatives gathered at the headquarters of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission in Ibadan on Friday to inspect the ballot paper samples and confirm the accuracy of their logos.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the OYSIEC Chairman, Dr Afees Adeniyi.
The exercise was coordinated by the commission’s member, Chief Olukunmi Agboola, who represented Adeniyi.
According to the statement, the exercise allowed representatives of participating parties to examine their logos, identify possible errors and make necessary corrections.
It added that the party representatives approved the ballot paper specimens after confirming that their respective logos were accurately displayed.
Speaking after verifying his party’s logo, the Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council in Oyo State and the National Rescue Movement, Mr Opeyemi Akinade, commended OYSIEC for keeping registered political parties informed about preparations for the forthcoming local government elections.
Akinade expressed satisfaction with the commission’s level of preparedness, particularly the introduction of the ballot paper inspection and verification exercise, which he described as a commendable initiative by the current leadership.
He also said political parties were making adequate preparations for the third consecutive local government election under the present administration in the state.
“I am pleased with this initiative. OYSIEC has done well by inviting party chairmen to examine and confirm that their respective party logos are correctly displayed. In fact, I witnessed a situation where a party representative observed that the wrong logo had been used for his party. He presented the correct logo, and OYSIEC officials duly noted the correction,” he said.
Speaking on his party’s readiness for the election, Akinade declared that the NRM had made significant progress in its preparations.
“Let me say that my party is 98 per cent ready for the election,” he added.
