POLICE APPEAL FOR DONATIONS TO SUPPORT MOPOL OFFICER SUFFERING BRAIN INJURY AFTER DUTY ACCIDENT

The Nigeria Police Force has appealed for financial support for ASP Oyadele John, a Mobile Police officer attached to MOPOL 22, Ikeja, Lagos, who is undergoing treatment at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital following injuries sustained in an accident while on duty.
According to a police wireless message dated August 20, 2026, Oyadele was involved in the accident on July 5 while carrying out a special assignment in Osun State.
Medical examinations reportedly revealed a serious neurological condition, with blood detected in his brain, subsequently resulting in a partial stroke.
The police said the officer requires N8 million for urgent treatment and called on personnel across various Mobile Police formations to make voluntary contributions towards his medical expenses.
The appeal, issued by the office of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Mobile Police Force, was classified as a “Personnel Welfare” matter requiring urgent attention.
Commanding officers were directed to coordinate the fundraising efforts in their respective formations and ensure that contributions were channelled through the designated account.
The message read, “AP/No. 154023 ASP Oyadele John attached to MOPOL 22 Ikeja is currently hospitalised at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, Ikeja, following an on-duty accident on 05/07/2026 while on special duty in Osun State.
“Medical examinations revealed a serious neurological condition, with blood found in his brain, leading to partial stroke. Officers and men of the force can send in voluntary donation to assist Mr Oyadelele.”
The police authorities directed that all donations be made and properly documented by September 4, 2026, as efforts continue to raise the funds required for the officer’s treatment and recovery.
