POLICE APPREHEND SUSPECTED KIDNAP GANG MEMBER

The statement said that the suspect was involved in a kidnapping event in 2023 that ended in the death of the victim.

“The Anambra State Police Command officers from the State Criminal Investigation Department arrested Olisa Oyelu, also known as ‘Obele,’ who is 25 years old, on the early morning of September 23.
He is the last person identified as part of the dangerous armed robbery and kidnapping group led by a suspect known as ‘Pincode,’ in relation to a 2023 kidnapping case that led to the death of the victim,” the statement said.

Ikenga said the arrest came after a long investigation to find, arrest, and take legal action against all those connected to the incident.

He added that once the investigation is complete, Oyelu will be handed over to the correctional authorities, where Pincode and four other suspects are already being held while their court cases are being decided.”

“The arrest represents a significant development in the ongoing investigation and reiterates the commitment of the command to ensuring that all persons found to have participated in the crime are brought to justice,” the police said.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Ama, commended the operatives for their perseverance, dedication and intelligence-led investigation.

Ama assured residents that the command would continue to pursue suspected criminal elements within and outside the state and ensure that suspects were brought before the law.

He also urged members of the public to continue providing the police with credible and timely information, stressing that security remained a shared responsibility.
