POLICE ARREST 43-YEAR-OLD MAN OVER NEIGHBOUR’S DEATH IN OGUN

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 43-year-old man, Edebiri Temitope, in connection with the death of his 38-year-old neighbour, Oje Michael Eje, in Mowe, Ogun State.
The police spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Friday, saying the suspect had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
The incident reportedly followed an encounter between Eje and the suspect’s three-year-old child.
According to the police, Eje, a university graduate, had been accused of hugging and playing with the child in what the suspect allegedly considered inappropriate or “rough play.”
Babaseyi said the suspect became angry over the interaction and allegedly attacked Eje with a bamboo stick.
The police spokesperson said the suspect repeatedly struck the victim until he collapsed and died.
Eje was said to have held a degree in Guidance and Counselling.
Following the incident, Temitope was initially reported to have fled the area with his family.
However, the police later confirmed that he had been arrested in connection with the death.
The command said the suspect was subsequently transferred to the State CID in Eleweran, Abeokuta, where investigators are conducting further inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
