POLICE ARREST TWO AFTER SPEEDING VEHICLE KILLS WOMAN IN RIVERS

A young woman identified simply as Eno has lost her life after she was struck by a speeding vehicle believed to be part of a convoy near the Rivers State University campus in Port Harcourt.
The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday and reportedly left the victim with severe injuries. Witnesses said she hit her head on the ground after the impact, resulting in fatal wounds.
Sources disclosed that some occupants of the convoy allegedly fled the scene after discovering that the woman had died.
An eyewitness said security personnel attached to the university, alongside police officers, were immediately alerted and swiftly secured all exit routes from the campus in an effort to track down those involved.
The source further revealed that operatives of the Nkpolu Police Division, working with the university’s security team, later arrested two suspects identified as Onunaka and Daniel. The duo were reportedly driving a Toyota Camry Spider and a Mercedes-Benz E300 respectively.
According to the source, the suspects are believed to be students of Rivers State University, although this has not been officially confirmed.
The suspects were said to be in custody at the Nkpolu Police Division in Mile 3, Diobu, while the remains of the deceased have been deposited in a mortuary.
Efforts to obtain comments from the university authorities were unsuccessful, as calls and messages sent to the institution’s spokesperson were not answered.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said two suspects had been arrested in connection with the case and that investigations were ongoing.
She stated that the victim’s body had been recovered and deposited in a mortuary while police continue their inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
