POLICE FOIL KIDNAP ATTEMPT, ARREST TWO SUSPECTS IN JIGAWA

Operatives of the Jigawa State Police Command have thwarted an attempted kidnapping and arrested two suspects in Kiyawa Local Government Area of the state.
The arrests were confirmed on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, in a statement issued to the media.
The suspects were identified as Abubakar Mohammed of Zawaya Village in Kiyawa LGA and Sulaiman Idris, popularly known as Hardo, from Manuna Village in Itas-Gadau Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
According to the police, a report was lodged at the Kiyawa Divisional Police Headquarters on June 20, 2026, alleging that the duo had conspired to intimidate and attempt to abduct a resident.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly contacted the victim through anonymous phone calls, demanding N4 million. They reportedly claimed they had been paid N2 million to either kidnap or kill the victim.
Police operatives subsequently tracked down and arrested the suspects, while investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.
In a separate development, the police also foiled an armed robbery operation in Chuwasu Village, Taura Local Government Area.
The suspects reportedly attacked a resident with sticks and cutlasses before making away with his black Boxer motorcycle.
However, on sighting a police patrol team responding to the incident, the robbers abandoned the motorcycle and fled the area.
The stolen motorcycle was recovered, while efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
