POLICE RESCUE VICTIMS ABDUCTED DURING EKITI CHURCH ATTACK

The Ekiti State Police Command has announced the rescue of victims who were abducted during an attack on the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eda-Oniyo, on April 28.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Saturday in Ado-Ekiti by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Sunday Abutu.

According to the statement, the victims were freed following sustained intelligence-driven operations and coordinated efforts involving the Nigeria Police Force, the military, other security agencies, the Amotekun Corps, local hunters and the Ekiti State Government.

The command disclosed that the rescued individuals have been taken to a medical facility for examination and treatment to assess their health status and ensure they receive proper care.

The Commissioner of Police, Falade Adegoroye, praised the commitment, professionalism and collaboration of all security agencies and stakeholders involved in the operation, noting that their joint efforts were instrumental to the successful rescue.

Adegoroye also commended the Ekiti State Government under Governor Biodun Oyebanji for its continued support to security agencies, which he said played a key role in the outcome of the operation.

He further expressed appreciation to residents for their vigilance, cooperation and timely sharing of useful information with security operatives.

The police commissioner disclosed that efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest those behind the abduction.
