Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro, has revealed that she broke down in tears after her son left Portugal’s national team camp last week, describing the incident as a major shock.
Aveiro spoke publicly about the situation for the first time, expressing sadness over the circumstances surrounding her son’s departure.
Ronaldo reportedly left the camp after remaining on the bench for the entire 90 minutes of Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Norway in the UEFA Nations League.
The 41-year-old later explained that his decision to leave was prompted by what he described as a “breach of trust” between him and head coach Jorge Jesus.
Speaking to TV 7 Dias, Aveiro said she was deeply affected by the development, particularly because of how her son’s departure unfolded.
“I feel sad, it’s normal. It was a shock. My son could have left through the main door, but instead he left through the small door. But it’s okay, God will take care of it,” she said.
She admitted that the situation brought her to tears but expressed hope that things would eventually improve.
“I cried a little. It’s good too, to let go. We have to turn this around,” Aveiro added.
