SHEHU BUBA’S AIDE RESIGNS AMID BANDITRY ALLEGATIONS

Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Shehu Buba Umar, Hon. Abba Aliyu Tilde, has resigned from his position, citing a breakdown in communication, mutual respect and trust in his working relationship with the Bauchi South lawmaker.

Tilde announced his resignation in a letter dated September 6, 2026, stating that it took effect immediately.

His resignation comes amid renewed allegations linking Senator Shehu Buba to banditry and terrorism. The senator has consistently denied the allegations, describing them as fabricated and politically motivated attempts to tarnish his reputation.

The controversy followed the circulation of videos and social media claims alleging that suspected bandit leaders had visited the senator’s residence. Buba dismissed the materials as manipulated and said he had taken legal action against individuals allegedly behind the campaign.

However, Tilde did not accuse the senator of involvement in the allegations or directly link his resignation to the controversy.

Instead, he cited what he described as repeated instances of being disregarded and a lack of recognition for his role as reasons for his decision to leave office.

He specifically referenced a recent visit by Buba to his ward, where the senator reportedly held a meeting with residents without informing him beforehand.

“Given my position and my connection to the people of the ward, I found this deeply disrespectful and hurtful. I believe that, at the very least, I deserved to be informed and carried along,” Tilde stated in the letter.

According to him, the incident, alongside other experiences, had made it difficult for him to continue effectively in his role.

“I cannot continue in a position where I feel that there is little regard for my contributions or for the relationship between us,” he said.

Tilde maintained that working relationships, particularly those involving political and public service, should be built on mutual respect, communication, trust and recognition of each person’s responsibilities.

“Unfortunately, I no longer feel that these principles exist in our working relationship,” he added.

The former aide described his resignation as “the most honourable decision” available to him, saying he was leaving office with a clear conscience after giving his best in the discharge of his duties.

He thanked the senator for the opportunity to serve as his Senior Legislative Aide and wished him success in his future endeavours.
