SHETTIMA ARRIVES SIERRA LEONE FOR 69TH ECOWAS SUMMIT

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Sunday arrived in Lungi, Sierra Leone, to participate in the 69th Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Heads of State and Government Summit.

Shettima was received at the Sierra Leone International Airport in Lungi by Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr Mohamed Jalloh; Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Amb. Sola Enikanolaiye.

Also on hand to welcome the Vice President were Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Amb. Ayo Luther-Ogbomode; the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo; the Nigerian Permanent Representative to ECOWAS, Amb. Olawale Awe; and other senior government officials.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the 69th ECOWAS Summit has brought together heads of state, senior government officials, diplomats and development partners from across the West African sub-region.

The leaders are expected to deliberate on critical regional issues, including peace and security, economic integration, democratic governance and sustainable development.

Nigeria’s participation at the summit underscores its commitment to strengthening regional cooperation, promoting economic integration and advancing collective efforts to address common challenges facing ECOWAS member states.
