A former member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Shina Peller, has extended warm Christmas greetings to Christians and Nigerians across the country, calling on citizens to embrace the values of unity, love and generosity that define the festive season.

In a goodwill message made available to journalists on Thursday, Peller described Christmas as more than a period for exchanging gifts, noting that it is a time for reflection, gratitude and renewed human connection.

He encouraged Nigerians to reflect on the past year with appreciation, acknowledging both achievements and challenges, while promoting unity despite differences in background, belief and culture.

According to him, the celebration of Christmas should serve as a reminder of the need for peace and harmony among individuals and communities.

“As we celebrate, it’s crucial to remember the spirit of goodwill that defines this season, fostering an atmosphere of peace and love,” he said.

The former lawmaker also highlighted the broader significance of Christmas, stressing that it reflects humanity’s shared values and collective responsibility to one another.

He urged Nigerians to strengthen relationships within their communities by reaching out to family members, friends and even strangers, regardless of differences.

Peller further emphasised generosity as a central message of the season, reminding citizens that the true essence of Christmas lies in caring for the less privileged and supporting those in need.

Reflecting on the hardships many Nigerians have faced in recent years, he encouraged the public to draw hope from the season and embrace the fresh beginnings it represents.

He called on Nigerians to move into the coming year with optimism and a renewed commitment to spreading kindness, compassion and joy beyond the festive period.

“Here’s to embracing the spirit of Christmas not just today, but every day of the year,” Peller said.
